<p><strong>BFI Southbank &#8211; Friday 3<sup>rd</sup> February (6 – 8:30pm) and Saturday 4th February 2012 (09:30-3:00pm)<br />
</strong><br />
This conference is jointly convened by the <strong>Media Education Association</strong> with the assistance and generous use of the learning spaces from the <strong>British Film Institute.</strong></p>
<p>It is aimed at drawing in some new voices to the association and driving some activity forward in 2012.This conference brings together a range of new voices from Primary, Secondary, FE and Higher Education.</p>
<p><strong>The workshops in the conference provide a range of narratives from different areas of the education system.</strong> Some are focused on how to teach aspects of the formal syllabus for media at GCSE/AS level and beyond. Other workshops focus on how children learn about the media. Yet others are focused on our own education as media teachers and how we can become better teachers of the media.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Glasgow Youth Film Festival (GYFF) returns next February with an inspiring curriculum-responsive programme of film screenings for Nursery, Primary and Secondary schools.</p>
<p>GYFF 2012 is developed in accordance with outcome and experiences for the Curriculum for Excellence and offers free learning resources written by local teachers. GYFF events are free to Glasgow Local Authority schools and cost £3 per pupil for all other schools &#8211; accompanying teachers go free. Most importantly, the festival will again provide free (and subsidised) bus transport for schools attending.*</p>
<p>Come along to the Teachers&#8217; Launch on Tuesday 6 December at 5pm to hear all about GYFF 2012 and how your school can get involved. Programme highlights include outdoor film learning, WW2 archive events, interactive GLOW workshops, special 3D screenings and much more! They&#8217;ll have snacks and light refreshments plus complimentary GFT tickets for everyone in attendance.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Leeds International Film Festival is the largest regional film festival in the UK, showcasing the very best new cinema from around the world to an audience of 40,000. The LIFF25 programme sections are: Official Selection with new cinema discoveries, exclusive previews, archive specials and the Golden Owl competition; Fanomenon, the UK’s largest fantasy film celebration, including the Méliès d’Argent competition and the Thought Bubble Comic Convention; Cinema Versa, the Film Festival’s documentary section focusing on Human Rights, music, and live collaborations; Short Film City, dicated to the short film form with UK and international competitions; and Cherry Kino, with experimental films by contemporary filmmakers as well as works from film history.</p>
<p>The 25th Leeds International Film Festival is presented by Leeds City Council and funded by the MEDIA Programme of the European Union, the British Film Institute, and Screen Yorkshire.<br />
The full LIFF25 programme will be announced on 7th October 2011.</p>
