There are media education ‘movements’ in many countries. In English-speaking countries, Australia and New Zealand are perhaps closest in some ways to the UK experience. In the United States there seems to be more emphasis on aspects of ‘media literacy’ that aim to ‘protect’ students from the excesses of media producers. In Europe, there are examples of more formal programmes in the compulsory schools sector, especially in film education in France and elsewhere.
Rather than attempt to define these different approaches, we’ve selected a small number of websites from around the world.
